I Play My Drum For You…

The drummer boy had no gift to bring the Christ child and so he gave the ability he had to play the drum. It is humbling to me to feel a kindred spirit with that little drummer boy as I sit  at my table painting, each stroke offered as a gentle prayer. Completed icons are considered to be interactive images in which the divine is present, but it is so for me from the first stroke of the brush to the last, as well.  The softness of the brush against the gesso in itself is beautiful and is a gift. I love the process of the sketch being visible beneath the first layers of roskrish…and already God’s eye’s are watching me, working with me in communion. I am in timeless space, and… I play my drum for you.

About njacacia

artist, poet, perrennial student. Otherwise eccentric live and let live type. Follow the Dalai Lama and Thich Nhat Hanh philosophically. Loving the acceptance of all people by the Pope. Raised in a traditional Christian environment, but always wondered about the absence of the Divine Feminine and have found Her in the lost gospels from Nag Hammadi.
